Rollout of the Sovereign E-Cell Elektric Vito!
From June 2011 Sovereign sends his first CO2 neutral vehicle on the road!
In co-operation with Mercedes Benz a unique pilot programm is developed in the course of which the Sovereign E-Cell Vito will be used for urban deliveries. The Vito is thereby exclusively driven by an electric engine and is 100% CO2 free!
This initial test run will demonstrate the usibility of alternative daily road transportation facilities for Sovereign and we are optimistic that we can expand this ecologically necessary way in the short term.
Fleet
Success in high performance sports is dependent on the equipment.
It is therefore obvious that Sovereign Speed leaves nothing to chance when it comes to choosing the work equipment. We trust the vehicle that gave its name to a whole vehicle class: the Mercedes-Benz “Sprinter-Van”. Naturally we only use the big Common-Rail-Diesel engines. They guarantee a maximum of capacity and speed.
In line with our ecological consciousness the 315CDI engines are equipped with diesel particulate filters of the latest generation. With a 95% filter-efficiency they underscore the EURO 4 threshold siginificantly. The newest generation of the vehicles with type 316CDI engines meet the demands of the “EEV” standard. These eminently environmentally friendly ones overmatch the exhaust emission quality of the EURO 5 which is valid since October 2008 for trucks and busses of new vehicle types. Still a good job do the so-called “snakes”: an impressive articulated vehicle with the tractor based on a Sprinter van with a sleeper cab.
In the meantime the fleet also includes 40-tons trucks. 5 Mercedes-Benz Actros 1844 and 1846 with various trailer types render their service in the Sovereign network. These vehicles match the EURO 5 emission standard also, of course.
Alongside our ecological conscience Sovereign Speed has a sense responsibility with regards to safety. That counts for both passive and active safety. All automobiles are fitted with the newest safety systems available for order. This includes distance radar, automatic brake assistance and lane guard, to name a few. Airbags, ESP and ABS, as well as a dynamic stability regulator are all part of the standard package. No exceptions are made when it comes to trailers, either. Whether it's curtainsiders, double-deckers or air cargo equipment: All trailers meet the XL-Certificate safety standards for structural strength.
All vehicles are equipped with a GPS transmitter allowing continuous positioning via the Mercedes-Benz Minor-Planet Trace System. For the safety of our pilots and your shipments.
But the best equipment is worth nothing without appropriate maintainance. Mercedes-Benz recommends a service every 30.000 km. Once again Sovereign Speed measures up to its own high expectations - we send our vehicles to be serviced every 10.000 km, every three weeks at the latest. Exclusively at Mercedes-Benz contract workshops all over Europe.
This is why the Sovereign Speed fleet is one of the most modern, ecological and best maintained in the industry.
It pays off. After all, what really counts is victory – just like in sports.
